Send a file to others

Encrypt the file with their lock(s), hit IC Share, done. It appears right inside their app's notifications, no "who else has this link?" There are no download links to leak, because there are no download links at all.

Instacrypt Cloud file sharing is only available to users on the Basic, Pro, and Ultimate plans. Local only and free tier users can encrypt and share files over any chat, email, or cloud storage instead.

Send a file to a group

Bundle your teammates into a group once, then encrypt or IC Share to the whole group in one step — everyone gets it, each opening it with their own key. No mailing lists, no shared passwords.

Instacrypt Cloud file sharing is only available to users on the Basic, Pro, and Ultimate plans. Local only and free tier users can encrypt to group and send the .icfx file to the users in a chat group, e-mail, or cloud storage service instead.

Send a file to yourself

Encrypt with your own lock, hit IC Share, and pick it up on any device signed in to your account — laptop to phone, phone to desktop, end-to-end encrypted the whole way. Keep the files you always need at your fingertips, without trusting a transfer app to look after them.

Encrypt files to store/backup anywhere

The fact that cloud providers scan and read your files shouldn't stop you from using them for backups if they fit your budget and use case. Encrypt your files with your own lock before storing them on the cloud, and then decrypt them again any time you need to access them.

Connect to your contacts easily

In person

Scan each other's animated QR codes and you're set — no cloud involved, no record anywhere that you ever met.

Met in person, finish online

Scanned someone's code at a meetup? One tap on Invite later and you're connected through the cloud too.

Search

People who choose to publish their identity are searchable in the cloud directory — find them and request to connect, like adding a friend.

Old school

Export your lock as a file and share it however you like. A lock is safe to hand to anyone.

For developers & power users

The icc CLI does everything the app does — and more. Sign files without encrypting, encrypt without signing, script it on servers, and sign your git commits with icc git-sign install. Post-quantum-ready signatures on your code, without touching PGP.

Most of the heavy lifting of the Instacrypt apps are done by the icfx Go library. This library is open source and available for developers to build applications with it.

On the roadmap: ic-agent — a background key agent (think gpg-agent) so other apps and scripts can sign and decrypt through Instacrypt without ever touching your keys.

See the usage docs for the full tour.

Choose a setup that fits your threat model

Every use case above works in whichever trust mode suits you.

Local only

No account, no server, nothing leaves your device. You manage your own backups and swap locks in person — the choice for the most demanding threat models.

Cloud connected

Contacts, settings, and identities sync across every device — encrypted on your device before anything is uploaded. New phone? Sign in and everything is just there.
